There are many variables that affect exactly how far you will be able to travel on a single charge like wind, hills, payload, and speed. We get an average range of 30 miles in commute/urban environments and 20 miles with really heavy loads and steep hills. The RadCity has 750 watts (500 in Canada) of power on demand. Pedal-assist uses a cadence sensor built into the drive train of the e-bike which reads when you are pedaling and automatically turns the electric motor on to provide assistance when you are pedaling. Start pedaling and the sensor tells the motor to turn on. You can adjust the level of assistance with the LCD screen from 1 (lowest amount of assistance) to 5 (highest amount of assistance) to match your desired speed. Since you are pedaling, using the RadCity in pedal-assist mode will generally result in a longer range compared to throttle only mode.
